Digital Transformation Expert
Raymond Choong is a technology investor, a digital transformation expert and advisor to technology startups, with over 26 years of experience in investment, finance, operational, Supply Chain, eCommerce and internet-based fields. He has been working with Ooredoo Group (OG), a leading Middle Eastern telecom group, and also with Singapore Technologies Telemedia (STT), a Temasek-linked company, for the last 16 years.
At OG, Raymond was a key member in the digital transformation at the group level and in implementation in a subsidiary. He was involved in driving the internet-economy in the Middle East, China and Southeast Asian region via partnerships and joint ventures, and initiating a technology accelerator programme and a venture capital fund. While at STT, Raymond was responsible for aligning strategy and long-term planning across the group businesses, as well as managing the company’s cross-border investments and overseeing the strategic investments for the group.
He was a member of the initial team that initiated the Internet Data Center (IDC) business in its infancy. He played a key role in initiating and leading investments in the areas of Telecommunications, Internet and technology-based company, in China, Asia Pacific and the Middle Eastern markets, in supporting of the group digital transformation strategy. Previously, Raymond has held various senior corporate development and management roles at Creative Technology, a Singapore-based global technology company; Kaga Electronics, a Japanese, Tokyo-listed company specializing in electronics and IT products distribution.
Raymond is currently a partner at FocusTech Ventures, a venture creation firm that invests in seed stage companies and provides entrepreneurs with resources and more. At the same time, a mentor at UOB’s Finlab (a Fintech-focused accelerator programme), the Airmarker Accelerator (Internet of Things-focused, cross-border accelerator programme) and PSA Unboxed (a VC arm of PSA International). He is also with one of Accredited Mentor Partners (AMPs), appointed by Enterprise Singapore (Formerly SPRING Singapore).
Raymond was also on the panel of judges for the 2016 ~ 2019 SGTech (Formerly Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF)) Awards.
We have offices in Beijing, Seattle, Singapore, and Tokyo. We believe in beer and coffee, especially craft beer. It is not recommended to drink wine in the office unless you don’t have a beer. Drinking while working is permitted as long as you have not reached the Ballmer’s peak.
